Throughout the year, students will be asked to read both at home and school. Students will be asked to keep track of their minutes read on their Reading Rewards account (see the reading page for more information) and complete a quarterly culminating project.
Below are the specifics:
- Weekly At-Home Reading: Students will be asked to read a minimum of 100 minutes a week. EACH FRIDAY, they will log on at school to their Reading Rewards account and record the minutes they read for the week. It is their responsibility to keep track of their minutes. Parents will receive an email to verify the minutes each week from Reading Rewards.
- Quarterly Book Reports: Students will have a book report due approximately at the end of each quarter. The book reports will be various projects that will ask students to apply their knowledge of one of their books. Specifics are sent home at the beginning of each quarter about the book report requirements and due dates. Trips to Tigard Library are encouraged!
Quarterly Book Reports:
- 1st Quarter: General fiction
- 2nd Quarter: Newbery Book Project with a speech component
- 3rd Quarter: NONE (we will busy working on our state reports!)
- 4th Quarter: Nonfiction Book Project with a speech
